ITF America Coaches Committee 2024 Momentum Athlete Scholarship Information and Application

1. A $2,000.00 scholarship will be divided equally between two (2) adult competitors (18 to 35 yrs.) Six (6) weeks prior to the ITF World Cup to be held in Mar del Plata, Argentina in 2024.

2. Competitor must compete and medal in a minimum of two (2) ITF America approved tournament events in the calendar year prior to the World Cup (this can include
tournaments in the last quarter of 2023.)

3. Competitor must complete an application providing a TKD biography, history of competitions attended in the last year, and short paper providing reason for why they should be selected.

4. The ITF Coaches Committee will review all applications and select the competitors through majority voting process, ranking each application.

a. Up to (50 points) for medaling in two (2) or more ITF America Competitions, extra for gold medals. These points would be further broken down depending on: Number of competitors in the bracket (must be reported by the athlete!). For Example, 20 points for a gold medal in a bracket of 8 or more athletes, 15
points for a gold medal in a bracket of 7 or less athletes. 10 points for a silver or bronze medal in a bracket of 8 or more athletes, 5 points for a silver or bronze in a bracket of 7 or less athletes.

b. Up to (30 points) for demonstration of extracurricular activity in support of dojang, or other ITF America events, i.e. Umpiring, assistant instruction, coaching, seminar attendance.

c. Up to (10 points) for showing versatility, by medaling in multiple events, including all sparring, patterns, and breaking disciplines.

d. Up to (10 points) for medaling in one (1) or more WAKO Tatami, Point Karate, or similar rule set tournament (i.e. Newtons) approved by ITF America Coaches Committee.

5. Final Selection of athletes to be approved by the ITF America Board of Directors.

7. Scholarship is intended to help for costs associated with travel to the ITF World Cup in Argentina and can be used in any way the competitors decide. However, if a competitor does not attend the ITF World Cup, then funds will go to the next ranked competitor in the selection.
